Note on the Early Development of Lacerta Muralis

چکیده
THE following paper contains an account of some observations on the early stages in the development of Lacer ta mural is , begun during the summer of this year at the zoological station at Naples and completed in the morphological laboratory at Cambridge. It relates chiefly to the mode of formation of the germinal layers and to the early development of the kidney. On my return from Naples I found that in June last Professor C. K. Hoffmann had published an account of the mode of formation of the germinal layers, and the results obtained by him agree generally with my own. As, however, Professor Hoffmann has published very few figures of the stages observed by him, and as my observations lead me to differ from him in one or two points of detail, it has seemed to me that it would not be useless to give a short account of my own results. The segmentation, which conforms to the ordinary meroblastic type, has already been fully described and figured by

Evaluation of Antibacterial Effects of Lecanora muralis SP. Extract on Staphylococcus Aureus and Salmonella Typhimurium in in-vitro and in animal model
Background & Objective: Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhimurium are among important causes of infection and antibiotic resistance. It is essential to find antimicrobial compounds against them. The objective of this study is to evaluate the antibacterial activity of Lecanora muralis SP. extracts on Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhimurium in in-vitro and in animal model.Ma...
متن کاملThe Conceptualization of Value in the Value Proposition of New Health Technologies; Comment on “Providing Value to New Health Technology: The Early Contribution of Entrepreneurs, Investors, and Regulatory Agencies”
Lehoux et al provide a highly valid contribution in conceptualizing value in value propositions for new health technologies and developing an analytic framework that illustrates the interplay between health innovation supply-side logic (the logic of emergence) and demand-side logic (embedding in the healthcare system). This commentary brings forth several considerations on this article. First, ...
متن کاملPerpetuation of the Lyme disease spirochete Borrelia lusitaniae by lizards.
To determine whether the Lyme disease spirochete Borrelia lusitaniae is associated with lizards, we compared the prevalence and genospecies of spirochetes present in rodent- and lizard-associated ticks at a site where this spirochete frequently infects questing ticks. Whereas questing nymphal Ixodes ricinus ticks were infected mainly by Borrelia afzelii, one-half of the infected adult ticks har...
متن کاملMicrocalorimetric Investigations on the Energy Metabolism of Lizards
The energy metabolism of three lizard species (Podarcis milensis, Podarcis muralis and Lacerta agilis) was investigated by means of microcalorimetry and polarography over the range of environmental temperatures between 17 and 35 °C encountered by active lizards during summer in Europe. In non-stimulated animals, the maximum and mean heat production rates were highest around 30°C for all species...
متن کاملComparative postautotomy tail activity in six Mediterranean lacertid lizard species.
Tail autotomy, the self-induced tail separation from the body, is a common and effective antipredator mechanism in lizards. In this study, we examine the muscle energetics of tail shedding in six lacertid lizard species (Podarcis erhardii, Podarcis peloponnesiaca, Podarcis muralis, Podarcis gaigeae, Podarcis milensis, and Lacerta graeca) from the northeast Mediterranean region. Very long period...
